The BBQ Results are in!

Much to our surprise we did not win the contest. We have accepted that fact and have decided not to issue a protest. Now we begin the long process of rationalizing our defeat and questioning the integrity of the judges and the fairness of the entire proceeding.

But seriously, we did pretty well for our first try:

Overall 82 of 183 teams.
Chicken: 119th
Pork Ribs: 63rd
Pork: 71st
Brisket: 99th

Behold the ribs that beat 120 other entries.

We certainly left some room for improvement for next year. With 363 days left I am sure we can perfect our dishes and place even higher.

Geeks with Grills

This weekend we jumped into the world of competition BBQ. Our team, the suitably named “Geeks with Grills”, entered the Great Lenexa BBQ Battle. The BBQ competition is a major event in our community and we decided that we just had to join in the fun. We had a lot of great food and even more laughs. It’s amazing how many jokes you can make about “getting your meat inspected”. It’s funny every single time.
