If you don’t do it now, you’ll be one year older when you do

Less is more.

I have reached a point in my life where less is more. I have little tolerance for unnecessary clutter or excess stuff in any area of my life. I am working to reduce and recycle anything that is not earning its keep or adding significant value to my life. While this is an ongoing and possibly never ending battle, I find the small successes along the way to be very satisfying. This redesigned and simplified blog is another small victory. I wanted to come up with a clean and clutter free site that will inspire me to post here more often. I hope you like it.

Worlds of Fun – Prowler Special Event

Aaron has been looking forward to the opening of Prowler, the newest roller coaster at WOF, for a long time. Today was opening day. As annual pass holders we were able to attend a special members only event where we got to be some of the first people to ride Prowler. You can see an excellent review by James Rao at Theme Park Insider. Also, check out my comments to his post.

Here are my pictures from the Prowler event.

My Favorite Workspace

I have been waiting for a weekend like this. It is finally warm enough to use my favorite morning hangout. I like to sit out on the screen porch with my laptop and drink my coffee. For the past several weeks it has been warm during the week but colder on the weekend. I am also looking forward to catching a nap here in the afternoon. During warm weather this is the most used room in the house.

RideOnAhead Update

I have been a little behind in my blog. I don’t really have a good excuse other than the usual – work, kids activities, etc. I am going to try to pick things back up and provide regular posts.

Wild Weather

Yesterday, December 26, we enjoyed temperatures approaching 70. Last night we were under tornado watches. Today we had temperatures in the teens. What is going on.

Last night we were woken about 4 am by severe winds. It was howling so loud that the entire family woke up. Aaron even went down to the basement to sleep. It slowed down pretty quickly and turned in to rain, lightning and thunder.

When I woke in the morning I looked outside and was surprised to find no real damage. Just a lot of small limbs in the yard. A drive around the neighborhood revealed that others were not so lucky. Here are some pictures of the damage.

How does your garden grow?

This spring we put in a new fence with an arbor at the entry gate. The fence created a perfect area for a garden between our screened porch and the fence. This series of pictures shows how the garden evolved over the summer. I am really happy with the way it turned out.

Garden1

Here is the garden area before anything had been planted.

Garden2

Here it is in mid-summer. Only the Foxglove is really standing out.

Garden3

Here it is in early fall. The Morning Glory is in full bloom. A climbing rose is beginning to creep up the arbor. Hopefully the rose will cover the arbor by this time next year.
